Poland Springs Water Company bottles water into bottles that hold 12 ounces each. They ship water bottles to grocery stores in shipments that contain 256 bottles each. When Hannaford’s Groceries receives their shipments from Poland Springs, they split each shipment up into eight equally sized cases. How many ounces of water are in each case that Hannaford’s sells?

384 ounces

1 Bottle = 12 ounces

Shipments = 256 bottles in each

Shipments received = 8 equally sized cases

First, you have to split the shipment received into 8 equally sized cases:

256 ÷ 8 = 32

Then you multiply that amount with the amount of ounces in each bottle:

32 × 12 = 384 ounces
