How do you simplify
3x--4 over 3 plus 5-2x over 2

Explanation:

(3x- - 4) / 3 + (5-2x)/2 adding fractions requires a common denominator .....for these fractions '6' will do.....mutiply the first part by 2/2 and the second part by 3/3 to get

(6x+8)/6 + ( 15 - 6x) / 6 ( note that 3x - -4 is 3x+4)

= 23/6 = 3 5/6

3x+4 / 3 = 6x+8 / 6

5-2x / 2 = 15-6x / 6

so, 6x+8+15-6x / 6

=23/6
