"Question : Describe the car accident that happens at the end of gatsby's party. what do you think fitzgerald wishes to convey about the 1920s through this scene?

Description : Detailed Summary
Gatsby hosts extravagantly luxurious get-togethers at his estate every Saturday evening.
Nick eventually receives an invitation, but he feels uncomfortable when he attends; the place is filled with uninvited people who seem painfully aware of the ""easy money"" in the air.
The attendees gossip about Gatsby, speculating that he is a German spy, went to Oxford, and even murdered a man.
Most of them seem never to have met Gatsby, even though they regularly attend his parties.
Nick encounters Jordan Baker at the party.
While talking to her, he notes the many grand features of Gatsby's party, such as the presence of a live orchestra, a huge selection of food and imported fruits, and an abundance of alcohol.
The Great Gatsby
Nick and Jordan venture to find their unknown host, and end up in Gatsby's library.
There, they encounter a small, somewhat inebriated man wearing glasses like an owl (whom Nick dubs Owl Eyes).
This man is astounded by the fact that the books in Gatsby's vast library, while obviously unread, are actually real books.
Shortly afterwards, Nick and Jordan observe the festivities from outside, and a man next to Nick starts talking to him.
The man remarks that Nick looks familiar, and Nick realizes that he and the man encountered each other during World War I.
The man introduces himself as Jay Gatsby.
Nick notes that Gatsby often flashes charming smiles and calls everyone ""old sport"".
Nick is intrigued by Gatsby because he stands back from the festivities, seeming to take pleasure in watching, rather than joining in.
At around two in the morning, a butler comes to Jordan and asks her to go meet Gatsby.
When she comes back to Nick, Jordan tells him that she has just been told an ""amazing"" story she will tell him later.
After bidding farewell to Gatsby, who had to take a phone call from Philadelphia, Nick begins his journey home.
On the way, he comes across a crowd surrounding a vehicle that has driven into a ditch.
The driver is intoxicated, and Owl Eyes is in the passenger seat.
The car has lost a tire, but the driver still attempts to back out of the ditch.
Nick then shifts narrative modes to describe his summer, which includes more than just partying.
His time is mostly spent going to work in the city, having a brief romance with a woman from New Jersey, and then starting to see Jordan Baker.
He finds Jordan attractive, but believes she is dishonest and cheats at golf.
He suspects that he may be one of the few people he's ever known to be honest."

At the end of the party, a car accident happens in The Great Gatsby. An intoxicated and Owl Eyes get into a car accident in the front yard of Gatsby's mansion, damaging the driver's car beyond repair.

Fitzgerald wishes to convey through this scene in The Great Gatsby that the 1920s is a decade of recklessness and danger. This accident emphasizes the carelessness and disregard for others' lives that were prevalent in the 1920s in Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.
