Gender-based violence (GBV) refers to any form of physical, sexual, or psychological harm inflicted on an individual based on their gender. It includes any behavior that targets someone because of their gender or gender identity and can occur in any setting or context, such as the home, workplace, school, or in public spaces. GBV can be perpetrated by intimate partners, family members, friends, or strangers, and it can take many different forms, including domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, trafficking, and honor killings.
