Answer:

Against ICT

(These are not my personal views, just choosing to write from this POV)

While information and communication technology (ICT) has undeniably changed the way we live, work, and communicate, it is necessary to assess its impact on numerous parts of society. Despite its enormous benefits, ICT has had several unintended repercussions that cannot be overlooked.

For starters, ICT has increased reliance and addiction. Individuals have become increasingly reliant on cell phones, social media platforms, and instant messaging apps for communication and pleasure. Excessive screen usage has resulted in less face-to-face contact, weakened social skills, and even mental health disorders like anxiety and depression.

Second, ICT has heightened privacy concerns while also facilitating the spread of falsehoods. As individuals' online actions are continually observed and abused, companies' and governments' gathering and analysis of personal data has prompted severe privacy concerns. Furthermore, the rapid transmission of misleading information via social media has eroded confidence, polarized societies, and even real-world effects such as misinformation spreading during elections or public health emergencies.

Furthermore, ICT has contributed to the creation of a digital divide, resulting in inequities in access to information and opportunities. While many people in industrialized regions have access to high-speed internet and powerful digital tools, a sizable section of the global population, particularly in underdeveloped areas, still lacks basic ICT infrastructure. This digital divide further marginalizes underprivileged populations, making it difficult for them to access education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

Additionally, ICT has altered the labor market, resulting in increased automation and job displacement. Many traditional vocations are being replaced by computers and algorithms as technology advances. This tendency has resulted in increased unemployment, income inequality, and a requirement for people to constantly enhance their abilities in order to remain relevant in the digital era. ICT has also given rise to cyber threats and criminal activities. Hacking, identity theft, online scams, and cyberbullying are just a few examples of the negative consequences of ICT. These activities not only cause financial losses but also create an environment of fear and insecurity in the digital realm.

To summarize, while ICT has clearly brought great advances and advantages to society, it is critical to recognize and address the negative consequences it has generated. Excessive reliance on technology, privacy problems, the digital divide, employment displacement, and cyber risks must all be addressed. As a result, it is clear that ICT has done more harm than good, and it is critical to negotiate the complexities and problems that come with using technology in order to harness its potential for positive change.
