Cheyne-Stokes respirations are a specific form of periodic breathing characterized by crescendo-decrescendo pattern of respiration between central apneas or central hypopnea. This is also an atypical pattern of breathing involving deep breathing followed by shallow breathing. CPAP therapy is recommended
