Prior to the Civil War, what forms of resistance did enslaved African-Americans use against the system of slavery? To what degree were these various forms of resistance successful or unsuccessful?

ran away - not very successful. if caught, which they usually were, theyd die

break tools - somewhat effective bc they couldnt work w/o tools

go slowly or keep a slower pace - very effective. they used songs to keep pace so no one went fast or fell behind
