Explanation:

So we know that

perimeter of the garden= 14 ft

width= x

length= x+1

perimeter = l + l + w +w

substitute your values into the equation

14= x + 1 + x + 1 + x + x

14= 4x + 2

14-2= 4x

12=4x

12/4=x

Hence we know that

width=4

length=4 +1

length= 5
