Answer:

1 pound of nachos = $4.71

1 pound of candy = $4.71/5 = $.94

1 pound of nuts = $4.71/3 = $1.57

Explanation:

total price for 3 pounds of candy and 3 pounds of nuts = $30

total price for 1 pound of nachos and 5 pounds of candy

= $12.43 + $30 = $42.43

let 1 pound = $x

thus according to the question,

x + 5x + 3x = $42.43

(total cost of 1 pound of nachos, 5 pounds of candy and 3 pounds of nuts)

9x = $42.43

x = $42.43/9 = $4.71

1 pound of nachos = $4.71

1 pound of candy = $4.71/5 = $.94

1 pound of nuts = $4.71/3 = $1.57
