Answer: 464 sq units

Explanation:

An easy way to find the area of complex figures such as this is to split the figure into separate parts, such as A, B, C, and D, as shown in the file attached. We find the area of each, using the formula

Area = Length x Width

(A = lw),

and add them together to find the area of the entire figure.

Area of A:

8x16 = 128 sq units

Area of B:

24x8 = 192 sq units

Area of C:

4x12 = 48 sq units

Area of D:

4x24 = 96 sq units

Area of entire figure: 128 + 192 + 48 + 96 = 464 sq units
