The pubic symphysis is the cartilaginous joint between the superior rami of the pubic. Because this joint is only slightly movable but, by joining together these rami, assist in the weight bearing of our axial trunk, it is considered to be an example of amphiarthrosis.
Joints that demonstrate no movement whatsoever like the sutures of the skull are considered a synarthrosis. Joints that demonstrate almost free movement and articulation are considered a diarthrosis.
