Answer:

B. x = 7; y = -1

Explanation:

xy = -7

x + y = 6

A and D don't work since the product of xy is not -7.

Try B: x = 7; y = -1

xy = -7

(7)(-1) = -7

-7 = -7

It works on the first equation.

x + y = 6

7 + (-1) = 6

6 = 6

It works on the second equation.

Answer: B. x = 7; y = -1
