The value of y in the following system of equations is:

2x − 3y = -5

y = 2 + x

y = -1.

y = -3.

y = 1.

y = 3.

Answer:

y = 1 , x = - 1

Explanation:

2x - 3y = - 5 → (1)

y = 2 + x ( subtract 2 from both sides )

y - 2 = x or x = y - 2

substitute x = y - 2 into (1)

2(y - 2) - 3y = - 5

2y - 4 - 3y = - 5

- y - 4 = - 5 ( add 4 to both sides )

- y = - 1 ( multiply both sides by - 1 )

y = 1

---------------------------------------------

substitute y = 1 into y = 2 + x

1 = 2 + x ( subtract 2 from both sides )

- 1 = x
