For now, I will focus on the left side, and use the distibutive property:


\sf{4(x+3)+2x=60}


\sf{4x+12+2x=60}


\sf{6x+12=60}

Subtract 12 on each side


\sf{6x=48}

Divide:


\sf{x=8}

Hence, x = 8
