Explanation:

(3 + x³ + 3x²) + (2x³ - 2 - 4x²) ← remove parenthesis

= 3 + x³ + 3x² + 2x³ - 2 - 4x² ← collect like terms

= (x³ + 2x³) + (3x² - 4x²) + (3 - 2)

= 3x³ + (- x²) + 1
