Answer: V = 1480 cm³ or 1.48 x 10³ cm³

Explanation:

Density formula:

ρ = m/V where:

ρ = density = 10.5 g/cm³

m = mass = 15.5 kg

V = Volume

Let's convert 10.5 g/cm³ to kg/cm³ so we can be in same units as mass

(1 kg = 1000 g)

ρ = 10.5 g/cm³ (1 kg / 1000 g)

ρ = .0105 kg/cm³

Plug in and Solve for V

ρ = m/V

.0105 kg/cm³ = 15.5 kg / V >Cross multiply

(.0105 kg/cm³)V = 15.5 kg >divide both sides by (.0105 kg/cm³)

V = (15.5 kg) / (.0105 kg/cm³)

V = 1476.19 cm³ >They only want 3 sig figs

V = 1480 cm³ or 1.48 x 10³ cm³

Answer:

15.5 kg = 15,500 g

15,500 g ÷ 10.5 g/cm³ = about 1,476.2 cm³

= about 1,480 cm³
