The nation-state's relevance as a realistic entity in today's world is debatable due to factors such as globalization, internal diversity, and the rise of non-state actors. While nation-states continue to play a significant role, their influence is challenged by transnational flows, separatist movements, and the power of multinational corporations and global advocacy networks. However, nation-states still provide governance, maintain territorial integrity, and serve as primary actors in international relations. The future viability of the nation-state as the sole unit of political organization remains uncertain.
