These shapes are trapezoids. It must say somewhere on your paper there, that these shapes are "similar"! "Similar" means that they are the same shape (same angles & sides are proportional) like one is a smaller (or bigger) version of the other.

So, if you reach out and tip over the little trapezoid, you will see that AngleE corresponds to AngleJ. So they are the same angle.

AngleE ~= AngleJ

z = 65°

x is the bigger version of the side marked 11 in the small shape.

The 8 in small shape corresponds to the 20 in the big shape.

8 is to 20 as 11 is to x.

In math-y writing:

8/20 = 11/x

Cross-multiply.

8x = 220

Divide by 8.

x = 27.5

y corresponds to the side marked 30.

8 is to 20 as y is to 30.
