Explanation:

since its an isosceles triangle, it has 2 congruent sides and one other side (the base).

Since we know the base is 5, we know that the other two sides added up are (6x+7)-5, which is 6x + 2

Because they're congruent, each one is half of that. Half of 6x+2 is 3x-1
