The bonus marchers were a group of veterans from WWI who marched Washington, D.C. in a desire to receive early payment of a bonus that was promised for their service(s) in the militia. The Great Depression caused financial struggles; the veterans wanted their money earlier than its original due year: 1945. Because they didn’t get the payments they requested, a violent approach was made against the U.S. military.
