Ms Lizah has enough lollipops to give each learner 3 lollipops and has 31 lollipops left or give each leaner 4 lollipops and has 8 lollipops left. Showing all your work answer the following questions

1. How many learners are in Ms Lizah's class?
2. How many lollipops does she have? Justify your answer​

Answer:

There are 23 learners and there are 100 lollipops.

Explanation:

Let n be the total number of lollipops and

x be the number of learners

n = 3x + 31 --equation 1

n = 4x + 8 ---equation 2

Equate

4x + 8 = 3x + 31

Transpose

4x - 3x = 31 - 8

x = 23

Substitute x = 23 to equation 1

n = 3x + 31

n = 3(23) + 31

n = 69 + 31

n = 100

Check by substituting x = 23 to equation 2

n = 4x + 8

n = 4(23) +8

n = 92 + 8

n = 100
