One angle is 39 degrees less than double another angle. If the two angles are supplementary, what is the measure of each angle?

Answer:

73° and 107°

Explanation:

let one angle be n then the other angle is 2n - 39 , that is 39 less than double the other angle.

supplementary angles have a sum of 180° , that is

n + 2n - 39 = 180

3n - 39 = 180 ( add 39 to both sides )

3n = 219 ( divide both sides by 3 )

n = 73

and

2n - 39 = 2(73) - 39 = 146 - 39 = 107

the measure of each angle is 73° and 107°
