Answer: 91

Explanation:

Given:

<WST = 12x +7

<T= 5x -1

<U = 57

Find: <WST

Solution:

There is a rule that the external angle. <WST, is equal to the 2 other opposite interior angles, <T and < U

Write your equation:

<WST = <T + <U >Substitute

12x + 7 = 5x - 1 +57 >Simplify like terms

12x +7 = 5x +56 > Bring x's to one side and numbers to other

7x = 49

x = 7

Substitute x back into angle to find angle

<WST = 12x + 7

<WST = 12(7) +7

<WST = 84 +7

<WST = 91

Answer:

91°

Explanation:

we can set up a system of equations.

for angle TSU, we can set that as y.

all angles in a triangle equal 180, so

5x-1 + 57 + y = 180

5x+56+y = 180

5x+y=124

we also know on a straight line is equal to 180, so

12x + 7 + y = 180

12x + y = 173

we can use elimination to get rid of the y.

7x = 49

x= 7

so WST = 12(7) + 7 = 84 + 7 = 91

WST = 91°
