Step-by-step explanation:

According to 1 Samuel 16:11 in the Bible, David was in the fields tending to his father's sheep when God sent Samuel to Jesse to anoint one of his sons as king. When Samuel arrived at Jesse's house, David was not initially present because he was considered the youngest and was out working in the fields. However, when Samuel requested to see all of Jesse's sons, David was eventually called in from the fields and was anointed by Samuel as the chosen one to become the future king of Israel.

When God sent Samuel to Jesse to anoint one of his sons as kings in 1 Samuel 16: 1, David was in Bethlehem tending to his father’s sheep.

In 1 Samuel 16: 1, God sent Samuel to Jesse in Bethlehem to anoint his sons. Preceding David’s anointing, Samuel tried to anoint all of Jesse’s other sons; however, they were not chosen by God, and Jesse called for the youngest (David) who was at the time tending to sheep. In verse 13, Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David; the spirit of God came upon him from that day forth.
