Keith is the leading goal scorer for a team in an ice hockey league. Last season, he scored 42 goals in 82 games. Assuming he scores goals at a constant rate, what is the slope of the line that represents this relationship if the number of games is along the x axis and the number of goals is along the y axis

Answer:

m = slope = 0.51

Explanation:

Slope = (Change in y-coordinate) / (Change in x-coordinate)

Use these 2 points on the line to find the slope: (0, 0) and (82, 42)

Δy = 42 - 0 = 42.

Δx = 82 - 0 = 82.

Slope = Δy / Δx = 42 / 82 ≈ 0.5122

Answer:

42/82 = 21/41 = slope

Explanation:

He scored 42 goals in 82 games, so the rate at which he scores is 21/41

Now in each game, he scores goals at this rate, so for 1 game he scores

21/41, for 2 games i.e x=2, number of goals y = (21/41)(2) and so on

so the slope is 21/41
