Explanation:
This is a math problem.
Let’s say the farmer bought x cattle for R240000.
So he paid R240000/x for each.
After 20 cattle died, he sold the remaining (x-20) cattle at R400 more each than he paid for them.
So he sold each for (R240000/x + R400).
His total revenue from selling the remaining cattle is (x-20)(R240000/x + R400).
Since his profit is R20 000, we can write an equation to solve for x: (x-20)(R240000/x + R400) - R240000 = R20000.
Solving this equation, we find that x = 100. So the farmer bought 100 cattle for R240 000, which means he paid R240000/100 = R2400 for each
