Two containers designed to hold water are side by side, both in the shape of a

cylinder. Container A has a diameter of 12 feet and a height of 14 feet. Container B
has a diameter of 16 feet and a height of 12 feet. Container A is full of water and the
water is pumped into Container B until Container A is empty.
To the nearest tenth, what is the percent of Container B that is empty after the
pumping is complete?
Container A
play
d=12
h-14
Container B
d=16

Answer: 829.39

Explanation:

Your format is kind of confusing, but here's the answer.

The formula for a cylinder is pi*radius^2*height

So Container A=pi*6^2*14 (since diameter/2=radius)

Hence, container A=1583.36

So Container B=pi*8^2*12

Hence, container B=2412.74

So to find out how much empty, we just subtract the numbers.

2412.75-1583.36=829.39
