the area (A) of the semicircle , that is half of the circle is

(1)/(2) πr²

the diameter of the semicircle is 48 cm then r = 48÷ 2 = 24 cm , so

A = 0.5 × π × 24²

= 0.5 ×π × 576

= 288 × π

≈ 904.8 cm² ( to 1 decimal place )
