Answer: Well for starters, the annexation of Texas did contribute to the cause of the Mexican American War in the mid 1800’s. However, this also helped America by gaining a huge expansion of territory.

Explanation: The conflict started when Mexico and the US disputed over where the north border of Mexico really was. With this, Mexico did not recognize Texas’s independence. Tension broke when Mexico killed Americans on U.S. soil.
