Explanation:

Theo savings = 18 + 4.50x

James = 4x

where x = number of weeks

Theo : James = 15 : 8

18 + 4.50x : 4x = 15 : 8

(18 + 4.50x ) / 4x = 15 / 8

Cross multiply;

8 (18 + 4.50x) = 15 (4x)

144 + 36x = 60x

60x - 36x = 144

24x = 144

x = 144 / 24 = 6 weeks
