Explanation:

The first thing I do is find the area of the triangles so 12x3 will get you the area of BOTH of our triangles.

The second thing to do is find the area of the semicircle. the formula for this is ( π r 2 ) / 2. So in this case (π 3 2)/2. (Remember r is equal to the radius which is half of the diameter.)

So the area for the semi-circle is 14.1372 but, it will round to the nearest hundred.

For the final step, we add. 14.13+36=50.13

50.13^2 so for the triangle you do 12x6x1/2. = 36. Then for the semicircle you do pi x 9 = 14.13. 36+14.13=50.13^2
