Answer:

x = 12

Explanation:

Formula for area of a triangke is;

A = ½bh

Where;

b is base

h is height

From the triangle diagram given;

b = x + 6

h = x

Thus;

A = ½(x + 6)x

A = ½x² + 3x

Now we are told that the area is 108 m², Thus;

½x² + 3x = 108

Multiply through by 2 to get;

x² + 6x = 216

x² + 6x - 216 = 0

Using quadratic formula, we arrive at;

x = -18 or 12

x can't be negative, thus; x = 12
