(4x - 6) + (3x + 6)

= 4x - 6 + 3x + 6

Combine like terms

= 4x + 3x - 6 + 6

in this case we can forget about the brackets, we can add 4x with 3x to get 7x, and add 6 to -6 which gives us 0, therefore we lose it and are left with only 7x
