The WHO also focused on strengthening healthcare systems and infrastructure, improving diagnostic capabilities, and educating communities about malaria prevention and control measures. While the GMEP did not achieve its ultimate goal of global malaria eradication, it made significant progress in reducing malaria transmission in many regions. The campaign laid the foundation for future malaria control initiatives and highlighted the importance of a coordinated, global approach to combat this disease.
