Answer:

x=1.4 and y=-2.6 or x=2 and y=1

Explanation:

I believe there may be an error in your question so I answered two, the one you wrote and the one I think you may have meant.

yours.

-6x+y=-11

-2x-3x=-7

here we can add the -2x and -3x in the second equation to make -5x = -7, dividing both sides by -5 gives us 1.4, so x = 1.4, now we can put this into the first equation by multiplying 1.4 by -6 to give us -8.4 so the first equation now looks like this, y-8.4=-11, now we want to add 8.4 to both sides to get y by itself, which gives us -2.6 so y=-2.6

now the question I think you may have meant, I think this because these questions are usually structured like this rather than what you asked.

-6x + y =-11

-2x-3y=-7

we want to remove the y from the equation for now because we want to work out x first, so we multiply the first equation by 3 to get -18x+3y=-33 we then add this to the second equation where the y cancels out giving us -20x = -40 if we divide both sides by -20 to get x by itself we are left with x = 2, we can then put this back into one of the equations to get y, so if we put it into the first original equation, -6x +y=-11 we times -6 with our x of 2 to get -12, we then add 12 to both sides to get y, which is 1, therefore x=2 and y=1
