Bob wants to build a swimming pool with a base area of 348 sq. ft. The width of the pool is 12 feet and it is 5 feet deep.

How much water would it take to fill the swimming pool? For safety reasons, he needs to build a fence around the
pool. How many feet of fencing will he need to complete his project? Justify your answer.

Answer:

1. 1,740 water

2. 82 feet of fencing

Explanation:

Part 1: With the base area of 348 and a width of 12 you need to find the length.

Which is 348 divided by 12 = 29 length

So to find how much water, you multiply the length x width x depth. Which is (29 x 12 x 5) = 1,740

Part 2: You get have to find the perimeter.

The formula is p = 2(l + w).

So 2(29 + 12) = 82 feet

Hope this helps
