A storeowner orders 25 calculators that cost $43 each. The storeowner can sell each calculator for $53. The storeowner sold 22 calculators to customers. He had to return 3 calculators that were never sold and pay a $5 charge for each returned calculator (although the initial cost is refunded). What is the storeowner's profit?

Answer:

$205

Explanation:

25 X 43 = 1075 (initial cost).

22 X 53 = 1166 (initial profit)

sends back 3 back at $5 each = $15.

initial cost (refunded) for 3 calculators = 3(43) = 129

1166 - 1075 - 15 + 3(43)

= 1166 + 129 - 1075 - 15

= $205
