Imagine going to a motel after a long day on the road. The motel is the only place to sleep in town, and the next town is 200 miles away. The motel is old and dirty; your room is shabby and dark. Plan a brief monologue (write out your thoughts) which expresses your attitude toward this room. Include specific references to the details that both produce and reveal your attitude. This monologue should be at least 50 words long

Final answer:

The student's attitude towards the motel room is negative due to its old and dirty appearance, shabby and dark interior, lack of cleanliness, and worn-out furniture and amenities.

Step-by-step explanation:

As I enter the motel room, the sight of its old and dirty appearance immediately dampens my spirits. The room is shabby and dark, with worn-out furniture and faded wallpaper. The lack of cleanliness and maintenance is evident, with dust and cobwebs in the corners.

The dim lighting further adds to the gloomy atmosphere, making the room feel even more unwelcoming. The outdated amenities and worn-out bed only contribute to my dissatisfaction.

Overall, the room's condition leaves me with a feeling of disappointment and discomfort, making me eagerly anticipate leaving and continuing my journey to the next town.

Answer:

This room is a dump. The peeling wallpaper and stained carpet make me cringe. And what's with the flickering lightbulb? I don't even want to touch the grimy remote. But I guess it's better than nothing. At least it's shelter from the cold night. Time to try and get some rest, even though I doubt it'll be comfortable in this uncomfortable place.
