Answer: Ln(4) - 1

The -1 part is not inside the natural log.

==============================================

Work Shown:

1 + 2*e^(x+1) = 9

2*e^(x+1) = 9-1

2*e^(x+1) = 8

e^(x+1) = 8/2

e^(x+1) = 4

x+1 = Ln(4)

x = Ln(4) - 1
