There is a line that goes straightly horizontal as shown on the picture. All angles that are on a line together sum up to 180 degrees. If we look at 142 degreed angle, there is an angle next to it that sums up to 180 when combines with the 142 degree angle. We will call it u. Having a good look at the picture there is another angle that is directly opposite sided to that of angle u. We can use the vertical angles theorem to say that those 2 angles are congruent. Also, to figure out angle u, we can subtract 180 by 142 to find iut angle u. That is because they both equal to 180 degrees. 180-142= 38, angle u is 38 degrees, and so is that other angle it is opposite to. That leaves angles with 38 degrees, 109 degrees, and angle 1 to sum up to 180 degrees. 38+109= 147, 180-147=33. The measure of angle 1 is 33 degrees. Have a great day, and best of wishes for you
