I’m having a little trouble understanding how to solve this. Could you demonstrate how it’s solved? Thank you!

I think you just supposed to write an equation like x•y

Answer:

y = (1/2)x + 2

Explanation:

See attachment.

Look for an equation of the form y=mx + b, where m is the slope and b the y-intercept (the value of y when x = 0).

Since this is a straight line, slope can be calculated using any two points. I chose (2,3) and (8,6). The slope is the Rise/Run, the change in y over the change in x for the same interval.

Rise = (6-3) = 3

Run = (8-2) = 6

Rise/Run, or slope, m = 3/6, or 1/2

The equation becomes y = (1/2)x + b

Find b by entering any of the given points and solve for b. I'll use (2,3):

y = (1/2)x + b

3 = (1/2)(2) + b

b = 2

The equation becomes y = (1/2)x + 2

See the attached graph.
