Hint: To solve inequalities, just pretend that the inequality sign (< or >) is an equal (=) sign and solve just the same way.

Solving Inequalities by Adding and Subtracting

1) x + 5 < 0 To solve: add -5 to both sides

Example: x + 5 - 5 < 0 - 5 answer: x < -5

2) 18 ≤ 13 + x

3) x – 8 > 0

4) x + 13 > 28

5) n + 3 < 15

6) 27 > n - 5

7) 18 > n + 1

8) 8 + n < 13

9) -x - 1 < 17

10) x – 12 > 11

11) 10 < x + 4

12) y + 3 < 17

13) 80 – t < 64

14) -10 + n > -3

15) x + 7 > 3

16) y – 6 > 4

17) 3 + x > 17

18) x – 2 > 17
