Explanation:

the radius (centre to edge) is the same right around the circle.

so that means that distance O to left edge of line that is 24 long = 13.

draw a line from O to top left end of 24 line. label that left end A. also, where the vertical line from O meets the 24 line, call that B. notice how OAB has just become a right-angled triangle?

we can see that AB = 12.

we have a right-angled triangle.

x is the length OB.

OB² = 13² - 12²

= 169 - 144

= 25

OB = √25 = 5.

OB = x = 5
