The answer is V = - 1/2. You need to subtract 5 on both sides -> 8v = 1-5 -> 8v=-4 and then divide by 8 to isolate the variable v to give you v=-1/2

v= -1/2
i honestly used photomath but
1.move constant to the right (8v+5=1)
2. calculate (8v=1-5)
3. divide both sides (8v= -4)
