The Battle of Yamama was a significant battle that took place in 632 CE in the region of Yamama, located in the central part of the Arabian Peninsula. It was fought between the forces of the first caliph of Islam, Abu Bakr, and a group of rebels who refused to pay the Zakat (Islamic tax).
The rebels were led by Musaylimah, a false prophet who claimed to be a prophet and had a significant following in the region. He challenged the legitimacy of Prophet Muhammad's prophethood and refused to acknowledge Abu Bakr as the new caliph of the Muslim community.
The battle lasted for several days, and the Muslim army eventually emerged victorious, but at a heavy cost. Many brave and prominent Muslim warriors lost their lives in the battle, including the great Muslim general, Malik bin Nuwayra.
After the battle, Abu Bakr ordered the compilation of the Quran into a single book, as many of the Muslim memorizers of the Quran had lost their lives in the battle. The Battle of Yamama is considered a significant turning point in early Islamic history, as it ensured the stability of the Muslim community and established the caliphate system of governance.
