Kevin is choosing between two cell phone plans. Plan A has a flat monthly charge of $32 for an unlimited number of minutes. Plan B has a monthly charge of $24 plus an additional charge of $0.05 per minute. For what number of minutes of monthly usage do both plans cost the same amount?

Answer:

At 160 minutes, both plans cost the same amt.

Explanation:

Let x = number of minutes used

Plan B costs 24 + 0.05x

Plan A is 32.

Set the plans equal to each other and solve for x

32=24+0.05x

8 = 0.05x

Divide both sides by 0.05 to solve for x

160 = x

So at 160 minutes, both plans cost the same amt.
