Explanation:

You can divide the big square into 4 equal little parte

If the radius is 5, the length of one little square is the diameter of the circle which is 10. The length of the whole square is 10×2 which is 20 cm.

So the area of the square is 400 cm².

Now find the area of the circles.

Area of one circle = pi × 5² = 25 ppi

Area of 4 circles = 25pi × 4 =6h= 100pi

You have to minus the area of the circles from the square to obtain the shaded region.
