Simple Answer: The Sun will exhaust the hydrogen fuel in its core and start burning helium.

Step-by-step explanation:

The sun expands, and it becomes a "Red Giant." During this time, it will engulf the inner planets (Earth, Venus, mercury and mars) After a billion or so years, it would have used all of its remaining helium and would have become have a white dwarf.
