Using the Pythagorean theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2, where a=36, b=77, and c is the hypotenuse.

36^2 + 77^2 = c^2

1296 + 5929 = c^2

7225 = c^2

c = √7225

c = 85

The hypotenuse is 85 units
