What is the point-slope form of a line that has a slope of 3 and passes through point (1, 4)?

y minus 4 = 3 (x minus 1)

1 minus y = 3 (x minus 4)

y 1 minus 4 = 3 (1 minus x 1)

1 minus y 1 = 3 (4 minus x 1)

Answer: y - 4 = 3 ( x - 1) is your answer, your first answer option

We know
Point slope form is y - y1 = m ( x - x1)

We know (1, 4) is x and y, slope or “m” is 3

Fill in the x1 and y1 and m

y - 4 = 3 ( x - 1) is your answer, your first answer option
